Today we remembered all of those who have served to protect us. We also learned the significance of the different colours of poppies. White poppies remind us of those who believe in resolving conflict through peaceful means. Black poppies remind us of people from African/ Black/ Caribbean or Pacific Islands who have served in the armed forces too. Purple poppies remind us that animals, particularly horses, dogs and pigeons have also played essential roles in wars and war zones.
