Primary 1 visit Greenmount College!
We had such a lovely day today on our school trip. We became little explorers in Greenmount College! 😀 P1 had to use their eyes, ears, hands and nose to see what they could find around the nature trail. We didn’t use the taste sense until lunchtime!! 😅
We began by looking at baby lambs, birds and watching a mummy starling bird carry worms back to its nest! Once we got to the walled garden, the children were given a ‘colour viewer’ and ‘touchy-feely card’. They were able to find lots of different colours and rough/smooth things. Karen used a special listening jewel (pinecone) to hear different noises and we heard a Robin singing back to our call! 🐦 It was great fun looking for different minibeasts. 🐜🪳🕷️🪱
We continued on our walk and looked at strawberry plants and little apple trees. P1 could smell lots of wild onion and garlic. Karen gave them a cup and in partners they had to make their own smelly potion with petals, sticks and leaves! 🍂🍃👃🏻
Before we headed back to have our lunch, P1 were given a masking tape bracelet. They were able to find and stick little pieces of nature on their walk back to the outdoor classroom.
It was so much fun and everyone was so well engaged and behaved! Well done P1! 😀🌟👏🏻
