P3 ARC21 Visit

23rd Sep 2023

On Thursday, we had a visit from Noel who works with ARC21. He came to talk to us about reducing, reusing and recycling our waste as best we can. He told us lots of facts. It costs the Council £1,350 to empty each Black bin bin lorry, £750 to empty each Blue bin bin lorry and £750 to empty each Brown bin bin lorry! Such a lot of money which is why it is SO important we remember the 3Rs at home and at school.

Noel let us smell what a landfill smells like. Stinky! 🤢 We didn’t think it was pleasant AT ALL! Most of us made very funny faces as we passed the scent jar around!

He also showed us a toy made from plastic bottles, a lampshade made from paper, a bag made from aluminium cans and a reusable straw made from tin foil. It was all very interesting.

Then, we made pots from newspaper, used compost from Redlands and planted cress seeds. We will bring them home next week! 🌱

We had a very interesting talk and found out lots of interesting facts. ♻️
